Annotated Bibliographies
Annotated bibliographies are lists of sources that include a citation and a brief summary, evaluation, and reaction about that source. These can be literature reviews that show the student has read a variety of important sources on a particular topic or lists that come at the end of a full essay to give further information about works already mentioned in the paper.
Different assignments can have a different focus, so there isn't just one way to write an annotated bibliography. Always follow your instructor's directions about what information you need in an annotated bibliography. Below you will find links to a booklet on how to write an annotated bibliography and examples in both APA and MLA format for bibliographies that come after a whole essay and bibliographies that are not connected to a paper but stand on their own.
